Tuesday, November 30. It’s 65 degrees outside now, nice.

Officially joined the gym yesterday.

Monday:
Did the 7pm spin class, no stretching after. Had a funny conversation with one of the employees about what celebrities work out here.

Tuesday:
Went to the 6:30am spin class. Ran a mile after on my bad toe. Didn’t want to stay on the treadmill long so did it quicker, at 6.5mph. Nice stretching after.

I need bike shorts and new shoes.

Back in So-Cal.

There was no way I could run today because my toenail feels like it’s going to explode off. I want to drill a hole in my toenail and release all the pressure. Walking in my heels was about an 8 out of 10 for pain.

Elizabeth Shue was on my flight! She has 3 cute kids. And a great Prada bag.

Quick re-cap over the past few days:

Wednesday night I took the redeye, LAX>IAD. I was in seat 8 and it did not recline so I did not sleep that well. Got in after 4 hours, 10 minutes (thanks to 160mph tail winds), took the supershuttle to my mom’s and went to bed from 6:30am to noon, when Courtney’s text woke me up wishing me a happy tgiving.

Thursday, Thanksgiving
Didn’t do anything exercise related on Thanksgiving. Went to Safeway with my mom and we saw a greyhound trotting down the middle of the street. A bunch of cars stopped, we all tried to get him in our cars but he kept running away. So we called Animal Care & Control and they sent someone out. I hope he got home safely. Then we saw a bird in Safeway!

JC came over for dinner, we made brussel sprouts, mashies, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and chicken (not turkey). Then we all went back to IAD and picked up the German. Then we had 2nd dinner!

Friday
Happy 16th birthday Schmoopy. 11/26/94-10/22/06. I miss you everyday.

Today we did a little Black Friday shopping at the apple store. Picked up an iPad for my mom and so I don’t have to lug my machine back and forth when I fly across country. It’s ok. Loaded her up with Rome.

Now it’s Saturday and I finally went for a run, almost 6 miles. That’s far for me. And I think I’m going to lose my right big toenail. Had to take off my sock out there, and it’s 40 degrees out. Saw the German running out there too, funny.

So, to re-cap, 6 miles and I’m going to lose my toenail. Check.

This morning the alarm went off at 5:45, and I lazed around until 6:11. Got up, got out the door, rode my cruiser up Main St., and made the 7am spin class. According to my bike’s computer I burned 505 calories (or “ca-lo-lees” as my nephew once called them) in 55 minutes. It was a hard class. I’m not so sure I was really pushing 200+ watts though, since I know my threshold is like 150. More like that the bike is not calibrated right. Only about 12 people made it this morning; we didn’t have the fans on at all. That is rare.

After I went for a 1 mile treadmill run. 1/2 mile at 9:50 minute miles and then 1/25 mile at around 9:30 and then 1/25 mile at around 8:50. It was not that hard. I had to stop because it was getting late and I had to stretch (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana, modified Parivrtta Surya Yantrasana, modified Urva Dhanurasana) and shower for work. I actually felt pretty good and was ‘on the bit’ of the treadmill the whole time.

Then I went to cora’s and got a bagel with the works – cream cheese, lettuce, onion, tomoato. That was a nice treat. The waiter loved my bike lights. 3rd person this week to remark on them, sweet.

I’ve signed up for the 2011 70.3 Vineman. It’s about 8 months away.

This blog is about training for that race.

In order to start some kind of training, for the next few weeks I am going to begin thinking like a triathlete. This is per my boyfriend, who is also my coach. This should prove to be interesting, but that is probably best suited to another blog.

Last week was spent doing a little running (~4 miles 3x week) and some spin classes, and a yoga class on Saturday. This week so far (today is Tuesday) has been:

  • Monday 10 minute elliptical, 10 minute treadmill, 50 minute spin class. (I thought the class started at 6:30 but it really started at 7, so I had some time to kill.) Nice stretching after.
  • Tuesday 50 minute spin, 20 minute run (little over 2 miles). This was a slow run, even for me. I wanted it that way. Nice stretching after.

Let’s see not only how I progress over the next 1/2 year, but also if I can keep posting, since I’ve had this blog since August of 2006 and never did more than 1 post.
